Welcome to the MMM Monthly recap. Y’all are very familiar with the typical monday newsletter - going deep on two recent discoveries - but one’s a bit different. I also write once or twice a week about songs I love from artists you might already know. It’s always filed under the All The Other Days tab, published only to substack and not sent via email.
Then at the end of the month, I recap what I’ve written here, so you can see what I’ve loved. Songs & albums hey oh!
This month has been a great one for the newsletter - as always paying out over $100 total to the six picks I shared (thank you AS ALWAYS to our generous paid subscribers, helping create a new way of supporting indie musicians, if you’ve got the funds to spare… don’t be shy!). But also continued to bring plenty of new faces into the fold over here, hence the little MMM 101 intro here :)
Also this month I have been hard at work at COMPILATION VOL 2 *the crowd gasps* which is just weeks away from dropping, more soon. As well as doing a fun little interview that you’ll see soon too. And on top of all that, it’s been a great month of music - spent a lot of time listening, and here’s what moved me most:
My Favorites of April

Albums
My most controversial post yet - my hate letter to Medium Build (jk i’m mad because the songs are so good I can’t stand it).
A first listen review - me just letting it rip and jotting down thoughts and enjoying it all along the way. Was fun to experiment with this format and think I’ll try for one a month :)
Songs
Back to the chorus, which ends with EO reaching to this higher, beautiful melody. We nananana through the bridge, just feeling our way through this mess. It’s really a club hit.
I don’t know that any song has felt more like the final minutes of a house party, every one of your friends there, all of you singing together. A movie of a moment.
The piano break, these jazzy chords matched step by step with WILLOW, it’s so sick and almost unbelievable that it’s coming from a young indie/genre-blurrer and not a career jazz vocalist.
I don’t know that a first 5 seconds has ever grabbed me like this. Geez. The perfect vocals, the perfect guitar, the muffled drums, it’s magic.
Please don’t hide your face I need to see your eyes / You’re beautiful exactly as you are.
Please subscribe, share with a pal who also likes good music, and I’ll catch you next week with two new picks that I am having to fight the urge to share this week too because I am way too excited about them. Ok have a great week!
big love,
Max
