A surprise (at least to me) 7-track project from Little Simz that woke me tf up. Mood Swings opens big and heavy, standing in the center of a massive underground nightclub, Little Simz rapping to you and you alone. Before the drumroll throws us into a new world. The drums filling the scene, it’s absolutely sick. Back to the club, Simz patient and clear. Just biding our time till the drums pop again, a shocking contrast between the two. Our moods working perfectly together.

The project’s other bookend strikes a different tone. Rolling clouds of chords, land gently over this relentless beat. A much warmer, sunnier, house sound. One bedspring away from a jersey club remix, this one mooooves. Yet the lyrics are so sad and loving. This was special, very special / why did I just let you get away. </3

Any Little Simz project is exciting, looking forward to hearing more of this.
