Maddie Jay is back with a HIT!!! I couldn’t be more excited. Her style is so singular, this stunning balance where it is ‘bedroom pop’ but it’s built for the biggest stages.
Even this song, it’s breathy, almost whispery refrain sits on the punchiest drums, most massive and welcoming synths. It feels just as good as a dance-in-your-room moment as it would in a festival field. Either way, you’ll be dancing.
The song is full of genius additions - blips and bloops, ad-libs, various tiny details that make an outsized impact. For me, the piece de resistance kicks off at the tail end of the chorus at 1:54. An outer space meets underwater, Polachekian vocal solo. Jay going wild, and me too.
The song is cute, fun, smart, it’s sick. I can’t wait for this next Maddie Jay era.
