Maggie Rogers - Don't Forget Me
what, you thought I wouldn't write about this one?
I’ve been excited about this new record - just in seeing how excited Maggie Rogers is about it. LP3 is always a big one, an artist finding what really feels right, evolving into the artist they see they can be. that they want to be. And by the sound of it, Rogers is really proud of how that’s coming to life.
Rogers, here, is a timeless country storyteller. Weaving her story into universally felt emotions. Seeing lives of those close to you change, wondering whether it’s right or wrong that your timelines no longer match up.
Generously, Rogers feels so sure. Sure that she is really living the life that is meant for her. You can feel it in the big warm choruses. Even in that final seemingly-desperate-on-paper “Don’t forget me” to me, feels so loving. Just like us all, we want to know that no matter what our time and our love does or doesn’t “amount to”, that those moments we're honest and meant something.
We get to the final chorus, I get full body chills, and I crave to be dancing to this in the summer sun. <3
