Mei Semones - Inaka

SHE DOESN'T MISS

Over at MMM HQ we’ve been riding with Mei Semones for a while now. Still dreaming of the performance we got to share. But this latest single is such a feat.

I would take the first six seconds alone and hold it up as a potential song of the year…. The gorgeous guitar riff, the perfect delivery, it’s so good… and somehow it only gets better from there.

The riff grows to add strings and drums as Semones continues. The moment rolling and swirling around. Ending in sunshine before the next scene emerges. If I’m with you I don’t care where we are. Guitars building, band coming back to life, and how couldn’t they it’s so damn loving!!!!

The moment slips back into this first section again, it’s a natural move and pulled off effortlessly. A drum switch-up keeps the momentum building. Then at 1:22 it all falls into a SICK instrumental moment. Crazy groove, and such a fun contrast to hold the elegant strings and jazz drums together, all so magic. Takes a cinematic ending at 1:45 and we’re right back to it, now Semones feeling a little claustrophobic. But not for long, back with this other person, things open up and feel safe again. Breaking past 2:30 and the band starts ripping. So fun to hear guitars and string arrangements punctuate the ends of these phrases.

Ending with more perfect noodling, the whole thing rocks. I love this song!!! Get into it!!!
