Second single from Mia Lorelei this year and folks, it’s a big one.
Gentle acoustic guitars dance around us, a fucking sick bass dropping us into the first verse with deft and care. Lorelei stretching out this first line, reaching out until the drums kick in and help us keep moving. Her voice has such a beautiful texture - I am obsessed. A great melody finding exciting rhythms through this opening section. Floating around these four walls echoing off itself, that cooped up feeling, that overthinking, banging around these walls all the same.
We step forward, covered with a wall of guitars. The moment feels big but comfortable, Lorelei in control over the noise. That final lyric, reverie, bringing in a perfect chord, a soft landing.
The band fades all the way back, acoustic guitar surrounding us again. A quick verse, a great verse, gets us back to the chorus again. This warm hazy scene, Lorelei patient with the delivery, all of it so smooth.
The outro carries on, little perfect bits sprinkled about. The rimshot drum roll, the harmonics, Lorelei’s ooo’s, all of it tying this song together with a warm bow. I’ll be playing this one A LOT.
