I don’t know that any song has felt more like the final minutes of a house party, every one of your friends there, all of you singing together. A movie of a moment.
The band swirls and swirls, picking up more atmosphere with every repetition until we’re at full energy there at 0:30 soaring into the sky. Nourished by Time’s delivery has just as much of a groove as the band, delivering these diary entry confessions. He trades sections with that synth, letting it rip before he’s back with a bleak assessment of the world in verse 2.
From there it leaps into a new scene, a big juicy dramatic chorus. Showing off his rich voice as he hits the lower end of his register. I really love this bit, I dare you to not sing along. It’s impossible. So inviting, so fun.
This song just rocks. It’s so weird and fun and beautiful and different and I’m really captivated.
