Saya Gray - AA BOUQUET FOR YOUR 180 FACE
Another fav from another fav. bold, inventive fun.
Kick drum rolling with a click for hi-hat. Saya Gray says ‘Okay’, and I agree, this is working for me. A sick little riff dances a few times through, the drums finding their footing.
It all settles into this effortless groove, and Gray returns. And wow is she incredible. A one of a kind voice, tone that seems to bend and glide with so much ease. With those harmonies, the reverb building then dropping us right back into the intimate clean vocals. It’s mesmerizing really.
I bent over backwards so many times I turned into a golden arch for you to walk through. The line seeming to run on and on, no end in site before these insane vocal layers repeat the phrase, heavenly and menacing at the same time. After the next line, just one mention of the devil, and the distorted guitar starts wreaking havoc. The flames dissipate into this epic, acoustic guitar driven sunny day. Building and building before it drops us back into that intro riff.
We witness some familiar sections before the bass(es) go wild at 2:41. Layer on that guzheng (it sounds like), harp?, a broken acoustic guitar? Different strings coming together for a special moment to close. I am SO excited about what Saya Gray is up to and can’t wait for whatever is to come.
